How do I play?
One kanji per day. You get nine candidates and five guesses; every miss reveals a new clue — a real word that uses the kanji, then its readings, then its meaning. Solve it with as few clues as you can, and share your score.
Do I need to know Japanese?
No. The first clue already includes an English translation, so it plays as a pure deduction game — and win or lose, you walk away knowing one real kanji, its readings, and a story to remember it by.
Which kanji can appear?
Beginner characters from the JLPT N5–N4 range — over 230 kanji, each with verified readings, meanings and example words from our course data.
When does the puzzle reset?
At midnight, your local time. Solve it daily to grow your streak — a missed day resets the streak, but never your progress.
